Registered Manager - Children’s Residential Home

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and child-focused Registered Manager to lead an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home supporting young people aged 10-17 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can provide strong, consistent and nurturing leadership, while ensuring young people receive safe, high-quality care that promotes stability, independence, personal development and positive outcomes. You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the service operates in line with its Statement of Purpose, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted expectations.

Job Specification

The Registered Manager will: • Provide strong and effective leadership across the children’s home, promoting a positive and child-centred culture. • Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and conditions of registration. • Maintain compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and relevant safeguarding requirements. • Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring young people are protected from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. • Ensure care plans, placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans are accurate, regularly reviewed and effectively implemented. • Maintain effective oversight of safeguarding concerns, missing-from-home episodes, allegations, complaints and significant events. • Ensure appropriate notifications, including Regulation 40 notifications, are completed within required timescales. • Provide management oversight following incidents, ensuring appropriate action, reflection and learning take place. • Lead, supervise, support and develop the staff team to maintain consistently high standards of care. • Ensure staff receive appropriate supervision, appraisals, training and competency assessments. • Maintain safe staffing levels and effective workforce planning to meet the needs of the young people. • Promote trauma-informed, relationship-based and child-centred practice throughout the home. • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and ensure their wishes, feelings and views meaningfully influence their care. • Work collaboratively with social workers, families, education providers, health professionals and other agencies to achieve positive outcomes. • Monitor the quality of care through regular audits, reviews and quality assurance activity, identifying and implementing areas for improvement.

  • Proven experience in a Registered Manager or senior management role within children's residential care.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
